Heavy Duty 600 for optimized fiber connectivity, engineered to withstand the harshest environments and ensure simplified field maintenance
Rosenberger Optical Solutions & Infrastructure (Rosenberger OSI), a European manufacturer of innovative fiber-optic cabling infrastructures, announces the successful deployment of its Heavy Duty 600 technology within the optronic systems of SYT Technologies, a specialist in the design and manufacturing of high-performance long-range optronic and reconnaissance systems. This solution provides robust and long-lasting connectivity, ideally suited for the extreme operating conditions faced by long-range surveillance and anti-drone equipment.
“Thanks to Heavy Duty 600 technology, we can guarantee reliable performance and operational continuity even in the most severe environments. Our consultative approach and technical expertise enable us to deliver concrete solutions to the critical needs of our partners,” says Bruno Demouron, sales manager of Rosenberger OSI France.
A solution tailored for harsh environments
“The optronic systems developed by SYT Technologies are deployed in demanding outdoor environments, exposed to dust, humidity, and temperature variations, where connection cleanliness cannot be ensured through standard methods,” explains Laurent Hartanerot, Embedded Software Engineer. Rosenberger OSI provided fiber-optic connectivity capable of delivering stable performance and high availability without the need for heavy maintenance in the field.
The Heavy Duty 600 solution, including reinforced receptacles and fiber-optic cables, ensures reliable connections between the optronic turrets and the control infrastructure. The connector, supporting up to six independent fibers, allows each fiber to be dedicated to separate data streams (security, video, control, QoS), guaranteeing complete network isolation.
Objectives achieved: durability, simplicity, and operational continuity
The adoption of Heavy Duty 600 technology meets several technical requirements:
Easy deployment, reducing operational complexity in the field
Extreme resistance (IP67/68), even during outdoor disconnection/reconnection
Optical stability without complex on-site cleaning
Simple, rapid handling, compatible with gloves and requiring no special tools
Reduced contamination risks that could lead to critical failures
Optimized operational readiness thanks to simplified maintenance
“Heavy Duty solutions are designed for demanding environments. Every project we support benefits from our expertise in reliability and operational continuity,” adds Bruno Demouron.
A rigorous integration process
Deploying the solution required close collaboration with SYT Technologies’ Engineering Department to integrate the new Heavy Duty receptacles into the optronic turrets while preserving the system’s mechanical integrity and sealing. The main objective was to prevent any intrusion that could compromise the optical sensors and the operational continuity of these critical systems.
Despite constraints related to weight, volume, and mechanical integration, all qualification tests were successful, confirming the robustness and performance of the solution.
Results: enhanced reliability and simplified field operations
Testing demonstrated:
Improved overall system reliability
Increased resilience to environmental factors
Simplified assembly and disassembly operations in the field
Reduced operator stress during tactical deployments
“All qualification tests were positive and conclusive; the overall reliability of the system is now assured,” concludes Laurent Hartanerot.
Outlook: a new standard for sensitive projects
The Heavy Duty 600 technology is becoming a standard for SYT Technologies’ sensitive projects, ensuring long-term reliability and performance for current and future optronic systems.
