The need for future-proof optical fiber cabling together with adequate datacenter capacity is growing constantly. This need has grown enormously due to the Covid-19 pandemic and demands a high-performance IT infrastructure. According to analysts from Gartner, by 2022 companies will be acquiring and processing more than 50% of the data they generate themselves outside of their core datacenter and the Cloud. But how and where? One solution might be colocation. 
Powerful, versatile, cost-efficient - this is the motto that saw the launch of the new envia TEL high-performance colocation datacenter Leipzig in November 2020. In our practical report, a discussion between Michael Freitag, Group Head for Datacenter Planning/Construction/Operation at envia TEL and Andreas Kluge, Sales Northern Germany at Rosenberger OSI will provide information about:

After training as electronics engineer for IT systems, a long period of service in the German military and his subsequent studies to become a state-certified IT engineer, Andreas Kluge started out on his professional career in 2015 as datacenter project manager with Rosenberger OSI. Since 2017, he has been part of the company’s sales team for Northern Germany.

After studying as a communications engineer at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, Michael Freitag started on his professional career in 1997 at enviaTEL GmbH. After holding a number of positions in project and asset management and other fields, he took over responsibility for datacenter infrastructure planning in 2010 and, since 2018, has been Group Head for Datacenter Planning/Construction/Operation at the Leipzig Datacenter Campus in Taucha, with an IT surface area of approximately 3,000m². During the periods 2013-2014 and 2018–2021, he also acted as Project Manager for the construction of the new Leipzig I and II datacenters.
